The Hill Country is my favorite destination in Sri Lanka. It encapsulates the natural beauty and landscape diversity of the island nation more than any other region. The home of Ceylon tea industry is a world away from the tropical lowlands, blessed with a cool climate, rugged mountains towering over green valleys, and neatly trimmed tea bushes covering the hills as far as the eye can see. Bad weather stopped us from going far and wide, but it gave me ample time to enjoy and capture nature’s fleeting moments, when the winds swept the low valley clouds up quickly like wisps of smoke, when the sun shone spectacularly for a brief moment before calling it a day, when thick clouds rolled in at sunset and wrapped around mountain peaks like a velvety white blanket, or when the mist and fog added a layer of mystery to the scenery and transformed everything into a fairy tale landscape.
