Seoul (cont.)

I was lucky to be in Seoul during the Lighting Lantern Festival (Yeon Deung Hoe). This year, the organizers turned the festival into a quiet procession in memory of those who had lost their lives during the tragic ferry incidence in early Apr. No music, no dancing, only a stream of lanterns floating along the streets, quiet steps under the seams of white hanboks andgrey robes, and thousands of yellow ribbons fluttering in the air, sending everyone’s wishes and prays to the wind. It was a very somber experience!
